Online Teacher Learning Content

This series of videos and learning materials is aimed for school teachers to learn about responsible use of AI in teaching and learning.

This series can be viewed on its own as an independent introductory module. In our project, this series is the first part of the flipped learning programme we deliver with the eight high schools across Vietnam.

As most of the Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Google Gemini) we use in teaching and learning are not made for education, it is important for teachers to know how they can ensure their use and their students’ use of AI is safe, ethical and responsible. In this video, Dr Vanessa Cui (Birmingham City University) explains to us what the fundamental principles of responsible use of AI for teachers and learners and what teachers can do to implement them.

We've developed a research informed 'Responsible use of AI principles for teachers' guide for teachers to use when planning and evaluating their use of AI in teaching and learning.

In this video, Dr Vanessa Cui (Birmingham City University) explains to teachers the six key principles when considering responsible use of AI in teaching and learning. These principles are good practices to ensure students and teachers are using AI safely, ethically and responsibly. Most of these principles are also useful for everyday use of AI to keep users safe and to reduce negative impact of AI on us and on the environment. These principles are created for teachers and students to enjoy the benefits from AI while limiting the risks from it.
